The Mcleod Centre for Learning

Amanda McLeod is a teacher who set up the McLeod Centre for Learning and has teachers trained in specific learning difficulties. Amanda’s centre provides lessons in touch-typing, handwriting, literacy, maths, and study skills to students with dyslexia, dyscalculia and dyspraxia. Her centre provides both group and individual lessons tailored to the student’s needs.

Amanda is the author and series consultant of the Scholastic Handwriting series (Reception to Year 6); she is a committee member of the National Handwriting Association (NHA) and is also one of their trainers and lecturers. She offers handwriting assessments and parent/child consultation sessions for parents who want to work with their children at home.

Osborne Cawkwell Tuition

Osborne Cawkwell Tuition specialises in the introduction of private tutors by the hour in London, and residentially in the UK and abroad.

Founded by Lucy Cawkwell in 2000, Lucy and her team are passionate about education and believe that tutoring is not just about a student achieving high academic grades: it is equally important to build confidence and encourage inquisitive and independent thinking beyond the classroom.

Knowing each tutor personally, Osborne Cawkwell Tuition pride itself on being able to match a suitable tutor with a student. Lessons are conducted in a friendly and non-confrontational style allowing students to learn through encouragement and exploration.

Young people’s mental health is paramount: Osborne Cawkwell Tuition are training the tutors on their books to be able to incorporate positive psychology and mindfulness techniques into their teaching.

Many students who are supported by tutors working through Osborne Cawkwell have specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia, ADD or dyspraxia.  Even though the majority of tutors are not trained in Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLDs), one-to-one tutoring allows the space and creativity for them to tailor lessons to what a student needs so they are still able to support and help pupil progress. The tutors are supported by a strong team at Osborne Cawkwell Tuition including Sarah Cox, a dyslexia specialist and special educational needs consultant. Sarah provides guidance and support for parents and advises tutors on suitable teaching techniques.
